4 Important Reasons To Hold Your Meetings Outdoors

By Jeffry Farman, CountryPlace director, showcases just a few of the wonderful activities on offer in The Dandenong Ranges.

Spring is here

Nearly thirty years, providing for conference groups at our award-winning residential venue in the Dandenongs, has shown us what clients prefer. We know that as the weather improves, conference groups are keen to leave the drab winter environment (and maybe drab office environment) to move outdoors. Here are 4 reasons why.

1. Shedding winter to restore mental energy

You know that winter feeling where your brain seems to be sputtering to a halt? Researchers call that "mental fatigue."

One thing that can help get your mind back into gear is exposing it to restorative environments, which, research has found, often means the great outdoors. One study found that people's mental energy bounced back even when they just looked at pictures of nature. (Imagine how positive the feeling is actually holding your meeting outdoors).

2. Sunshine and fresh air.

There’s nothing like the clean, fresh mountain and forest air to stimulate discussion and creative thinking. Just what you need in a 2 or 3-day conference.

3. A relaxing environment in magnificent gardens

Time away from the office environment says to staff that this meeting is special. Not your regular meeting that can be regarded as ho-hum.

Time for some stimulating team-building

A high ropes course is the ideal way to “stretch the comfort zone,” build confidence and raise self-esteem. With your team mates controlling the safety ropes under supervision of experienced facilitators, group members experience levels of trust and support rarely experienced in a work environment. Your team will bond through this powerful experience and return to work motivated and ready to take on any challenge!
